Dyffryn Tanat YFC is the most northerly club in Montgomeryshire, based in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant in the beautiful Tanat Valley near the border with Shropshire. We are proud to be a bilingual club which currently boasts nearly 100 members between the ages of 13 and 28, meeting on alternate Wednesdays for a variety of different club nights ranging from interesting guest speakers, games nights, farm tours, sports, and fun trips such as bowling, ice skating and the driving range!
Our members are always keen to get involved in all aspect of YFC life, whether this is as members of the county officials team, attending and holding official roles at various committee meetings, partaking in all competitions, and taking advantage of the YFC travel opportunities. However, some would argue that most importantly of all, DT are always at the front of the queue as soon as there is talk of a social!!
We at Dyffryn Tanat YFC play an active role in our local community through volunteering and fundraising events. Most recently some of our members completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge for charity, and during the pandemic we collected an amazing amount of donations for a local food bank.
Becoming a member of DT is like joining one big family, and is an amazing way to make new friends and try new experiences that you never would have got the chance to otherwise! For this reason, we always encourage our members not to be afraid of pushing themselves out of their comfort zone by giving everything a go at least once and making the most of every amazing opportunity you will be given during your time as a YFC member.
But don’t just take our word for it; here are what some of our current members have to say about being part of Dyffryn Tanat YFC:
“Thanks to YFC I have the best memories! By getting stuck in and having a laugh, I’ve gained lifelong confidence and friendships.”
“YFC is about more than just wellies and tractors!”
“Because of YFC, I’ve discovered confidence and talents I never knew I had.”
“No matter where I go, I know that I have a friend in any fellow YFC member that I meet.”
