Montgomery Young Farmers Clubs is a bilingual voluntary youth organisation led by young people, for young people. Over 600 young people aged between 10 and 28 years are currently members of the organisation through the 18 clubs operating across the County. Montgomery Young Farmers Clubs provides opportunities for members to develop new skills, receive valuable training, travel the world, become an integral part of the community and have the opportunity to make friends for life.

We are affiliated to the Wales and National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs. Wales YFC is a voluntary organisation that represents over 5,000 young people aged between 10 and 28 years in rural Wales. There are 12 County Federations affiliated to Wales YFC and each county has a network of clubs, just like Montgomery.

The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs is one of the largest youth organisations in the UK that provides 22,000 members aged 10 to 28 with a unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local communities, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme and enjoy a dynamic social life.

You don’t have to be a farmer to belong to a Young Farmers’ Club. From performance, team building, training and skills, stock judging, community work, crafts, art, music, management skills, cookery, organising events, charity work, floral art, public speaking, sports and much, much more – there is something for everyone, so why not get involved?

Montgomery YFC has a team of County Officials, Leaders and Staff who work hard behind the scenes listening to and working alongside the members to develop the county programme.

    Did you know?

The Montgomery Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs was launched on the 24th January 1938. Calf Clubs and Young Farmers’ Clubs had existed in their own right before this date but without a County Federation.

The first County Rally was held in 1943.

The first County Eisteddfod was held in Llanfair Caereinion in 1950.

The 1954-55 YFC year was a record breaker for Montgomery YFC with 29 Clubs and 1,196 members!

Montgomery YFC have had many County Chairmen over the years, dating back to 1938 when the organisation was founded by W.C. Black.
